Bluesky download questions

Can SkyArchive download an entire Bluesky thread?

Yes. Author thread follows the original poster’s sequence, while Full conversation can include public replies from other people. Reply depth is adjustable.

Does it download the original image or video?

When the public post exposes an AT Protocol blob reference, SkyArchive requests the original uploaded file from the author’s public data server. Otherwise it uses the best supported public fallback.

Does SkyArchive store my files?

Archive assembly happens in your browser, and the service does not intentionally retain completed archive files.

Can it download private, blocked, or deleted posts?

No. SkyArchive processes public content and does not bypass access controls.

Why might a video download as .ts?

That is the no-reencode HLS fallback used when the original MP4 blob is unavailable. It can be played in VLC or remuxed to MP4 without quality loss.

Is SkyArchive affiliated with Bluesky?

No. It is an independent utility that uses public Bluesky and AT Protocol interfaces.
