External media URLs can disappear. Store the media folder locally and ensure the HTML or Markdown references remain understandable.
4. Record the source and export time

5. Verify the archive before relying on it
Open the downloaded ZIP, check the post count, play the videos, inspect large images, and compare the first and last posts against the live thread.
6. Store more than one copy
A local archive is still vulnerable to disk failure. Important material should exist in at least two independently controlled locations.

Common questions
Is a screenshot enough for evidence?
It can be useful, but it is weak as the only copy because it may omit source links, metadata, alt text, and full-resolution media.
Does an archive prove the post was authentic?
Not by itself. It preserves a snapshot and provenance links, but formal evidentiary standards depend on context and jurisdiction.
Should I include engagement counts?
Include them when the level of public response matters; omit them when you only need the content.
What should I do if a video fails?
Keep the rest of the archive, retry later, and record the failed media URL from the generated error note.
