Choose the right thread scope
Use Author thread when you want the original poster’s connected sequence without unrelated replies. Use Full conversation when the surrounding discussion matters. Use Single post for one self-contained post. Reply depth is adjustable, so a large public discussion does not have to become an unmanageable archive.
What the complete ZIP contains
The complete archive includes a designed HTML reading copy, editable Markdown, universal plain text, structured JSON, a README, and a media/ folder. Images and videos receive predictable filenames based on thread order instead of anonymous CDN names.
Original media where the protocol exposes it
For public posts that expose the original blob reference, SkyArchive requests that blob from the author’s public AT Protocol data server. If an original video cannot be retrieved, the exporter uses the highest-bandwidth public HLS rendition without intentionally re-encoding it.
A snapshot, not a permanent mirror
An export records what was public when you created it. Deleted, blocked, moderated, or private posts cannot be recreated later. Keep the downloaded ZIP somewhere you control if the material matters.

Common questions
Can SkyArchive find the first post if I paste a link from the middle?
Yes. Parent posts can be included, and the public conversation structure is used to rebuild the selected scope.
Does it include replies from other people?
Only when Full conversation is selected or the author-only filter is disabled.
Can I download a private or deleted thread?
No. SkyArchive only processes content that is publicly readable at export time.
Why would I choose JSON?
JSON preserves structured fields such as post URIs, timestamps, authors, metrics, media references, and source URLs for later processing.
